v Print Impairment accessibility flyer. Do we have anyone affected by this issue? Several publications and other items are available for anyone who is blind or has trouble reading for any reason. We couldn’t think of anyone in our fellowship with this need, but should be aware of the availability. v Bridge Connections – gifts for youth turning 18 or graduating from high school in 2005. Walter Moore and Peter Finn are both sons of members, graduating this year, $5 each. It was moved and approved to provide this for recent graduates as well as students graduating this year. This would include Walter & Bonnie Moore, Peter Finn, Cameron & Tye Stone and Chelsea Lechner. v Update info for “Congregational Contact Information Sheets” and InterConnections subscriptions. Beatrice updated the Congregational Contact Information Sheet with UUA for this year. It needs to be done every year by February. The information for it will be filed in the UUA Contacts file. Interconnections subscription information is updated 2 times a year. A suggestion was made to recycle old UU World magazines by putting them out on the welcome table at services and leaving them in waiting rooms or other places where people are looking for reading materials. v UUA Bookstore sale on pamphlets and books & new book available: The Kids Book of Awesome Stuff, embodies seventh principle. $15 each. Beatrice suggested ordering this book and several pamphlets. It was approved. v From Church Mutual Insurance Company: Risk Management Self-Inspection Checklist. This check list will be reviewed by Mike and Raylene. A lot of the information in it is for fellowships that own their own building and so doesn’t apply to us. v Treasure hunt for the Board Beatrice will make up a scavenger hunt for a future meeting to help the board members know where to find stuff when she is not here. v February Newsletter/ Newsletter Assignments Naomi will do Thank you’s and the President’s report, and will get the list of Sunday services to Trish. Beatrice will do Minister’s musings and the calendar. Raylene has a recipe. Other BusinessA “Dinner & a Movie” night is planned for February 25th at the Martin’s house. The movie will be “Fire on the Mountain” about the 10th Mt. Division troops from Colorado during WW II.
Phyllis asked if SUU would like to provide lunch or dinner for the National Ocean Science Bowl teams on February 19th as a fund raiser. Roger didn’t think it would be profitable so it was decided not to do this.
Tandi Rogers with PNWD has offered to help organize an OWL presenter training in Alaska. Each organization presenting the OWL program is supposed to have 2 trained people. When Beatrice leaves we won’t have any. We would need to involve other organizations (Schools, Planned Parenthood, United Church of Christ, etc.) as well as other UU fellowships to get enough people to make this worthwhile for a trainer coming from Outside. The training lasts for a week end. This will be discussed more later. |
