Board of Trustees Meeting, September 21, 2005

People present: Naomi Fischer, Sharyl Seese, Tim Johnson, Raylene O’Connor, Doreen Valadez, Phyllis Shoemaker, Gail Bernard

 Ø      Treasurer's Report- Sharyl distributed copies of bank statements.

Ø      President's Report –

o    Meeting with Janine Larson – Naomi, Sharyl, Gail D., Lori L. and Terry R. met with Janine Larson when she was in Seward.  Janine encouraged SUU to use the CLF resources, divide up responsibilities, and have fun.

o     Naomi asked each board member to choose a card that listed some of the tasks that need to be done.  Raylene will be the liason between the SUU board and the newly hired administrator.  Sharyl will be in charge of the budget, and organize set-up on Sunday mornings and visitor hospitality.  Doreen will be in charge of advertising and will update the weekly ad we have in the Log with the new phone number (362-1788) and Naomi’s name as president.  Tim will be in charge of contacting members.  Phyllis will oversee Sunday services.  Naomi will send newsletter articles to Trish.

Ø      RE report –

o    Tim will check with Diane about when they will start the OWL program for middle school aged youth.

o    Trish and Simone will organize RE for the younger children.

o     Deborah Dixon is focusing on the trip to Nicaragua with the High School group.

Ø      Old Business –

o    Hiring and administrator – We agreed to hire Gail Bernard as part-time administrator.  The board discussed with her what kinds of things she would be needed for and Naomi will e mail her the job description.  People should go through Raylene for anything they would like Gail to help with.

Ø      New Business –

o    Phyllis will design a pledge card to be sent to members and friends.

o    Tim will write up a survey to send to members and friends to get an idea of what sort of fellowship people want and are willing to support.

 

The next board meeting will be Wednesday October 19, 2005.
