Bits and Pieces Dianne Maythorne, our newest UU member, has agreed to serve on the SUU Board of Directors. Dianne is an ER nurse at Seward Providence Hospital. In August, board members Dianne Maythorne and Tim Johnson participated in training for the OWL (Our Whole Lives) classes to be offered at the SUU this coming year. We are looking to hire an Administrative Assistant to take care of some of the SUU business previously handled by Beatrice Hitchcock. It is hoped that we will have this person on board by the end of the month.
A word from the President September is upon us. Already the leaves are turning and termination dust threatens. The coming of fall marks the departure of Beatrice (and the rest of the Hitchcocks) and a new phase for the Seward Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. We are truly a fellowship now, as that is the name given for a UU group that is not lead by a minister. In order to continue to thrive as a fellowship we need to draw more on the resources available from and by our members. Think about ways you can be involved in shaping and strengthening the fellowship. I am looking forward to this coming year of enlightened services and communion with fellow, like minded people. I hope to see all of you on September 11 at 10:00 a.m. for our first service. Bring your family, bring your guests, bring some water, and I will see you there. ~Naomi Fischer
Whale Coast Tours Summary Another good year with the WUURLD group (formally called Whale Coast Tours) who were here on June 19th and July 6th . They stayed one night each trip and had a potluck both times at the Seward Senior Center. SUU received $3,355.00 for lodging less expenses of $932.00, and the potluck $1,098.00 less the space rent of $160.00 for a profit of $3,361.00. Thanks to everyone who helped with the potluck and housing our guests. Next year WUURLD will be here one night June 27th and 2 nights August 1st & 2nd We would like to see more SUU house the guests this next year and not so many having to stay in B&B or hotels. We should know by March all the information on the guests. So please put these dates on your December calendar to transfer over when you get your new one in January. |
